Assessing the RUG-III Resident Classification System for Skilled Nursing Facilities
Resource utilization groups, version III (RUG-III) is used by CMS to classify skilled nursing facility (SNF) residents into Medicare payment groups. Using a sample of 1,304 SNF residents with Medicare-covered stays, we find that RUG-III only explains 10.4 percent of the variance in total per diem costs. متن کاملThe Transformer database: biotransformation of xenobiotics
As the number of prescribed drugs is constantly rising, drug-drug interactions are an important issue. The simultaneous administration of several drugs can cause severe adverse effects based on interactions with the same metabolizing enzyme(s). The Transformer database (http://bioinformatics.charite.de/transformer) contains integrated information on the three phases of biotransformation (modifi...
متن کاملValidity and reliability of Resource Utilization Groups (RUG-III) in Finnish long-term care facilities.
Resource Utilization Groups, Version III (RUG-III) is a case-mix system developed in the USA for classification of long-term care residents. This paper examines the validity and reliability of an adapted 22-group version of RUG-III (RUG-III/22) for use in long-term care facilities in Finland. Finnish cost weights for RUG-III/22 groups are calculated and different methods for their computation a...
متن کاملA perfected device for performing retrograde urethrography
The present study describes a perfected device for retrograde urethrography (RUG). The device allows RUG to be performed using a balloonless catheter and with assessment of the various problems of the urethra. The procedure is simple and well tolerated by patients and represents an interesting alternative to the conventional RUG technique.
